NATE Drama Packs: Drama within English at KS3&4

NATE Drama Packs show, through detailing a variety of teaching and learning approaches, how Drama will raise standards in the whole range of English skills: analytical and critical thinking, reading and writing, speaking and listening. They are also designed to support the Drama objectives in the KS3 Framework and the statutory NC requirements.

Introduction - gives information and support on the teaching and planning of Drama. The first five packs are units of work accompanied by teaching resources:
Macbeth by Shakespeare
Holes, novel by Louis Sachar
These two packs are included with the introduction and ring-binder

Rabbit-Proof Fence screenplay by Christine Olsen, based on novel by Doris Pilkington (DVD of film is required to teach this pack effectively)
Much Ado about Nothing by Shakespeare
Starseeker, novel by Tim Bowler
Anthology poems, Different Cultures poems from the AQA A Anthology
His Dark Materials, Developing critical approaches to the play adapted by Nicholas Wright from the Philip Pullman trilogy and published by Heinemann.

The variety of approaches described within these packs have been explored and tested by the authors over several years. They are extremely innovative in the context of most departments? schemes of work, and this is the first time that they have been collected in print to form highly accessible, very user-friendly materials for all secondary English teachers. In order to lighten preparation time, many ready-to-use resources are provided including overhead transparencies and tailored illustrations.

NATE Drama Packs are a major contribution to thinking about the dramatic dimension of English teaching and they deserve the widest possible audience.
(Mike Jones, Regional Director for the KS3 English National Strategy)

Both authors have been involved in the training programme for English consultants working with schools throughout the UK to develop quality drama in English at KS3. The KS3 National Strategy has bought copies of NATE Drama Packs and will now be able to provide many secondary schools in England with a copy of the Introduction together with four of the packs ? Macbeth, Holes, Much Ado About Nothing and Rabbit-Proof Fence. Make sure you get yours! And then order the other packs directly from us...
