Charles Dickens: Lecture series for AS, A-Level and IB students
Charles Dickens writes about the supernatural in many of his works including his novels, short stories and journalism.
To accompany this display, a series of lectures about 19th century Gothic literature will be offered to AS, A-Level and IB English students. Lectures will take place in the British Libraryís Harry M Weinrebe Learning Centre.
Students can attend a 1-hour talk and follow it with an independent visit to the Dickens display. This will be particularly suitable for students going on to study English at undergraduate level.
Lectures are free of charge and will provide students with an opportunity to:
- hear from expert speakers and ask questions
- be inspired by speakers and their passion for the subject
- broaden their understanding of Dickens in the context of 19th-century Gothic literature
Also available online for students and teachers: original source material and readings by Simon Callow.
