NATE’s Multicultural & Diversity Working Group invite you to join our campaign to ‘bring back talk’ by attending a workshop that aims to share ideas among teachers and teacher educators to bring back talk and drama into the English curriculum.
We strongly believe that speaking and listening/spoken language cannot be reduced to a restrictive public speaking exercise at KS4, where talk and exploratory learning is marginalised – a consequence of the didactic and traditional modes of teaching and instruction which is failing our diverse population. NATE believes that ‘human learning is specifically social in nature’ with talk having a critical role in organising our thoughts and extending our thinking. Vygotsky (1978:89)
Come and join us on Thursday, 23rd June (7-8.30pm) so we can talk (and walk) the talk together!
