Welcome to NATE
Empowering English teachers to inspire young people
We're the National Association for the Teaching of English, an independent, non-funded, not-for-profit educational charity that provides publications and training for English teachers at all key stages.
For 60 years, NATE has provided English teachers with a platform to share their expertise and advocate for the issues that shape their practice. Through campaigning, research, and successful partnerships, NATE continues to champion and defend the subject while offering invaluable support and enrichment to English teachers and the young people they work with.
Whether you’re a long-time member or a first-time visitor, we’re excited to welcome you to our refreshed digital space, designed to inspire and support you. NATE publishes some of the best long-form writing about English teaching, optimised here for seamless reading on your desktop, tablet, or phone.
With fresh content arriving regularly, there’s always something new to explore. Visitors can read the latest news about English teaching and enjoy posts from our blog. Members can log in to discover primary and secondary resources, read in-depth feature articles and reviews of children’s books, YA fiction and teaching materials, as well as accessing our full publications and CPD archive.
