The NATE Initial Teacher Education Conference is a day of inspiring professional learning for teacher trainers, mentors, trainees and Early Career Teachers. Taking place both in person at the University of Bristol and online, the conference brings together leading practitioners and researchers from across the profession, enabling delegates to engage with the latest thinking in English education wherever they are.

The day will open with a keynote from Lorna Smith, exploring the future of the English curriculum and the opportunities presented by forthcoming curriculum change. Delegates can then choose from a wide range of workshops and seminars led by Sue Pinnick, Kathryn Bennett, Rachel Roberts, Caroline Godfrey, Lucy Kelly, Roseanne Chantiluke, Ed Collyer and Rebecca Sherratt, covering topics including curriculum design, mentoring, drama, creativity, artificial intelligence, teacher identity, wellbeing and antiracist practice in English. Workshops are designed to support the needs of teacher educators and mentors, while also offering practical ideas and inspiration for trainee and early career teachers, ensuring that everyone benefits from the conversations across the day.
