NATE is offering travel bursaries for members wishing to represent the Association at the joint IFTE/ARLE International Conference in Barcelona, taking place from 25–27 June 2026
An international conference, hosted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, brings together two major international organisations: the International Federation for the Teaching of English (IFTE) and the International Association for Research in L1 Education (ARLE). This marks only the second joint conference between IFTE and ARLE, following the success of their inaugural partnership event in Melbourne. The Autonomous University of Barcelona is the third partner and host for what promises to be a significant gathering of global experts in English and L1 education.
About the conference
The conference will be held at the School of Education campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, with additional sessions taking place in central Barcelona. A pre-conference PhD day on 24 June 2026 will provide doctoral students and early career researchers with a valuable opportunity to present papers and engage in a supportive academic environment.
A call for participation
The Call for Papers is now open and will run throughout the academic year. NATE members are warmly encouraged to submit proposals and participate in what promises to be an inspiring and collaborative international event.
Bursary details
To support attendance, NATE is offering a limited number of travel bursaries. All NATE members are eligible to apply, and classroom teachers are especially encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.
